You cut a sharp left at the remains of the south span. Weaving around a weathered monument from 1974 that commemorates the completion of the now-collapsed bridge, you duck under a rusting swingset on a makeshift playground at the foot of the bridge.   Somehow, you managed to lose the cops for a moment, so you duck under the concrete bridge support, and hide in a graffitti-laced crawlspace.  The police whiz on by, headed for Topside, unaware of your concealment.

When the coast seems clear, you crawl out from under the bridge, brush yourself off, take a couple of swings on the swingset, and, for a moment, you are back in a childhood in which you were naive, playful, joyous, and most importantly, not on the run from the cops.  

A fear that the police might turn around, however, gets you moving again.
